Description
It all begins with a wee bit of inspiration of wanting to share your passion for art, specifically depicting plants and the natural world. Maybe you want to try and capture a lovely Dahlia flower or a feather you found on the forest floor that belongs to a Northern Flicker. Maybe you want to learn how to use colored pencils for the first time or you just need some guidance on picking out the colors that would give the fullest depth and dimension. Join artist Kate MacGillivary for a special two-hour workshop and catch the enthusiasm of putting pencil to paper! Participant fee $30.00. Supplies list will be provided to participants in advance, and select supplies will be available for purchase on the day of the workshop.
Kate MacGillivary discovered botanical art and colored pencils while attending Denver Botanic Gardens School of Botanical Art and Illustration and graduated with a certificate of completion. Every winter Kate sits down at her drawing table to focus on depicting many of the plants she nourishes in the landscaping season (or better yet, the ones she discovers while traveling). Kate’s chosen medium of colored pencil fulfills her desire to capture the wonderful, fine details of plants–layer upon layer–so that observers feel they can almost pluck the subject right off the paper.
